When you entrust me with your book, I direct my knowledge, skill, experience, and effort toward making it as good as it can be. Ultimately, though, the book is yours, and my role is as a steward of it. I serve you and your book.
Some writers worry that an editor will take over the book. Let me be clear: I respect and honor your vision and goals. My job isn’t to help your book sound like me or cater to my tastes. My job is to help you—as one of my clients said—sound more like you, but better.
