Some of my story
From a young age, I loved language and loved books: fiction, nonfiction, poetry. As I grew, I pursued the writing of these genres in my undergraduate, master, and doctoral studies, and I am a published writer of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
In conjunction with my studies, I worked on various campus literary journals, as well as on the longstanding South Dakota Review. As the editor of the literary journal The Windhover from 2012 to 2024, I released 20 issues, publishing poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. I relished the opportunity to read the work of other writers and bring it into published form.
In 2022, I stepped back from my role as a tenured English and creative writing professor to focus exclusively on a new direction: offering premium editorial services for a range of clients.
My favorite part of academia was working with writers individually, helping them shape their ideas and their language into something of which they could be proud. These one-on-one experiences drew me deeper into my desire to help writers write their best.
